I loved this book. Being a techie, not only are these guys decent programmers, but also they are definitely real traders. The day trading chapter is worth the price alone. Yeah, it has the standard Level II tutorial but after a couple of pages it gets real interesting, especially their ImClone example (looks like they wrote it in early 2002 before the Martha Stewart scandal broke). Oh, one other thing… these guys aren’t afraid of speaking their minds and are appropriately cynical, not to mention pretty funny too (make sure you read the footnotes – I was rolling on the floor for a few of them). There’s one chapter where they flub one of the charts, and I won’t ruin the quote for you. They seem to have a lot of fun and not take themselves too seriously.

There are very few books with the ambition of clearly and quantitatively stating how hedge fund managers and other professionals of the art of stock trading perform their craft. Specific techniques may come in and out of vogue, coding languages will evolve, and the markets and individual investment vehicles change, but a reproducible scheme designed to approach this potential quagmire is absolutely necessary if you are considering to trade like a business (which is really the only way in order to succeed).

Anyone who aspires to improve their trading using a top-flight platform will enjoy reading this book. Serious readers will not be detracted by the turn of recent events; I hope that Mr. Conway collates his latest thinking for a sequel.

The careful reader will use the framework described in the book to create their own approach; once you’ve done this, the confidence you’ve nurtured will allow you to proceed with real $$$ at stake.

If you read this book several times, alternating it with the works of Mark Douglas and learning the basics of statistical screening from [...], you are well on the way of becoming a great independent trader, able to make money regardless of economic or market cycles. It should be obvious that fans of CNBC should not read it ;-)

Lets not get too excited. Not sure how much reading and technical analysis other readers have done, while I think some of the book is useful other parts of it seem to be a waste and pretty basic. It wasnt what I was looking for and the price seems way too high. Seems for whatever reason its out of print in the stores so the author and his company are selling it for a huge mark up. Didnt get the software and the code doesnt work the way it is written in the book, either out of date or needs to be updated TS code.

Unless you really want it, I would pass on this one at the price offered.
